Town Motor Vehicle Information

All first time Derry registrants are required to present proof of residency in person with a valid State issued photo identification, valid NH photo license, valid military ID or valid passport.  NH RSA 261:148.  Any one of the following documents must be presented in the registrant’s name to prove residency:

1. A current utility bill for service at the new address within the last 30 days.(e.g., cable, electric, water/sewer, gas/oil)
2. A valid lease or rental agreement.
   1. Agreement must be signed by all parties.
      (private property agreements must be notarized).
   2. An agreement that is for a month to month tenancy or a tenancy at will that has been signed more than 60 days ago cannot be accepted. 
3. A notarized statement from the current property owner , within the last 30 days, verifying residency.
4. A payroll stub within the last 30 days. (Individuals Only)
5. A bank statement within the last 30 days.  Checking or savings account only.  (Individuals Only)

Motor Vehicle Renewal Required Documentation:

• Previous or current motor vehicle registration or
• Renewal notice.

Photo ID is required for all motor vehicle transactions per NH RSA 261:148 and NH DMV Saf-C1903.01(c).
